Head Coach & Club Founder

DAVE SCOTT-THOMAS takes a whole-person approach to coaching, developing both the student and the athlete. He is the winner of twenty-seven CIS Coach of the Year Awards, the most in CIS history, as well as threetime recipient of the Fox 40 OUA Coach of the Year Award (for all sports), and two-time winner of the Athletics Ontario Performance Coach of Year. During the past eighteen years, Dave has established the varsity program as the premier track and field program in the country. He is also the Coach of the Speed River Track and Field club and has coached eight Olympians, and over on hundred national team athletes.

Junior Endurance Lead Coach

JEFF HALLER  has been coaching with Speed River since the fall of 2005. In that time he has coached several athletes onto National teams and developed on of the strongest high school programs in the country. Jeff works as a teacher in Waterloo and is a former team captain for the national championship winning University of Windsor.

Senior Endurance Coach

KYLE BOORSMA first became involved with the Speed River club as a high school runner and went on to become one of the most successful athletes of the Gryphon cross-country and track and field program. Kyle has now moved into the role with the club as lead exercise physiologist and works in the field with athletes to monitor and optimize performance metrics. Kyle also works as a hand on endurance coach with our NEXTGen athletes and is currently pursuing his Performance Coach Certification.
